الكتاب عبارة عن سيرة مختصرة عن سيدنا الحسين رضي الله عنه، وما دار بينه وبين يزيد بن معاوية، ويحكي لنا المؤلف القصة كاملة، بداية من خروجه إلى العراق، ونهاية بإستشهاده، ويسلط الضوء على الدوافع التي قادت الحسين للخروج على يزيد بن معاوية، والأهداف التي سعى إليها، ولماذا أقدم يزيد بن معاوية على قتله، وغير ذلك من المحاور الهامة في هذه السيرة المختصرة.
